Monitors are required for viewing live and recorded CCTV footage captured on Digital Video Recorders.
Some shops and other businesses like the idea of having
a slave or spot monitor suspended from the ceiling at the main entrance to their building. This shows people entering the building that they are being recorded by CCTV.
The industry standard for CCTV is BNC Monitors, though these days more DVR's are available with VGA connections allowing the use of a VGA Monitor.
Regardless of wether BNC or VGA is the better solution, we will always install flat screen LCD monitors. Most
agree a better image is received from the old CRT
monitors, but for overall aesthetics and the less room required we find it better to stick with LCD screens.
BNC Monitors
Available in all sizes and various resolutions
BNC Monitors considered Professional CCTV Monitors.
BNC Monitors are more pricey than VGA Monitors, but most support audio and they will perform better over long cable runs.
VGA Monitors
A VGA Monitor is the type of monitor used by your pc. You are most likely looking at a VGA monitor right now. On most occassions we
would only use a VGA Monitor if the monitor
was being installed close by to the digital recorder. VGA is limited to 30mtr cable runs.
VGA Monitors do not always support audio.
